Section 1 - Computational Thinking
What is Programming
🎯 Objective
Understand what programming is and how computers follow instructions.
⏱️ Estimated Time
- Explanation: 10 min
- Activity: 10 min
🧠 Explanation
Programming is the process of giving a computer clear, step-by-step instructions to perform a task.
A computer is very literal:
- It does exactly what you tell it, nothing more and nothing less
- It does not guess
- It does NOT think for itself (AI may look like it is thinking, but it is still just clever programming following patterns and data)
If instructions are unclear or missing, the result will be wrong.
💡 Example
Making tea:
- Boil water
- Add tea
- Pour water
- Wait
- Drink
🛠️ Activity
Write steps for brushing your teeth.
🚀 Challenge
Write steps for logging into a website.
🔑 Key Takeaway
Programming = Instructions + Logic + Order
